The Hickory Stormwater Advisory Committee (SWAC) is charged by the City Manager and City Council with five key goals:
Review the City’s existing municipal stormwater management program
Explore stormwater-related problems, issues, and needs in Hickory with a focus on community issues and expectations for municipal stormwater services
Review and develop strategic-level recommendations for the City’s future stormwater management program, organized by program functional area
Review and develop program funding recommendations
Develop a program implementation plan for review and consideration by City Management and City Council
The purpose of the SWAC is to review, discuss, and seek consensus on advisory-level stormwater management program and funding recommendations that will be presented to the City Manager and City Council. The Manager and Council will receive and review the SWAC recommendations and make policy decisions, as appropriate, regarding the future City of Hickory Stormwater Management Program.
The SWAC is also a required element of the City’s existing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II stormwater quality management program. Specific Phase II issues and topics will be integrated into stormwater management program discussions throughout the SWAC process. |
