JEWELL Engineering Consultants employee, Betty Farr, PE, recently was recognized for her design and administration of a Civil Engineering - Tree Preservation construction project on the campus of Moses Cone Hospital in the City of Greensboro, NC. The City of Greensboro awarded their 2006 Greening and Growing Award to Moses Cone Hospital for the innovative and outstanding tree preservation techniques used during the design and construction of their Urgent Care Facility on North Church St, in Greensboro, NC. Betty was responsible for the site design and tree preservation techniques while working at Davis-Martin-Powell, of High Point, NC. She managed to preserve three (3) large Willow Oak trees by directing materials and techniques to be implemented so that the trees would not only survive construction that occurred near their trunks and roots, but would continue to thrive after construction. The Greening Greensboro Award was presented to Moses Cone at the Greensboro City Council Meeting in December, 2006. |
