Doug Jewell, PE , Principal, has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and has almost 30 years of experience managing and performing water resource projects. His water resources background is employed in the solution of problems dealing with surface water management; lake sediment removal; dam safety, construction and rehabilitation; stream/channel design, restoration and stabilization; sediment and erosion control; water-related permitting; urban storm water management; surface water quality management; flood control; and development of municipal storm water management programs, including storm water funding mechanisms such as storm water utilities. His technical expertise includes dam safety, water resource planning and management, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, watershed modeling for quality and quantity, water surface profile modeling, construction drawings and specifications, engineering reports and presentations, expert witness services, geographic information systems technology, and general civil engineering. Doug is a member with the American Public Works Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, Association of Tau Beta Pi and is a retired Captain, Civil Engineer Corps, United States Navy Reserve. Doug and his family reside in Kernersville, NC.

Cindy Lancaster , PE, Project Manager, has been involved with various aspects of water resources engineering for more than 20 years, performing and managing a variety of stormwater projects for local governements and private developers with a focus on integrating solutions to address flooding, erosion and water quality concerns. Cindy recently relocated to North Carolina from Austin, Texas, where her project experience included water supply planning, streambank stabilization, LID stormwater management, integrated watershed planning and floodplain modeling.

Elizabeth (Betty) A. Farr, PE, Project Engineer, has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Associate’s degree in Horticulture Technology and an Associate’s degree in Architecture Technology with over 15 years of experience in a wide variety of fields. Her experience includes: all aspects of site development design, permitting, sediment and erosion control, horticulture consultation, tree preservation, environmental investigation, stormwater bio-retention design, stream restoration/relocation, tree surveys, hydrology, landscape designs, construction administration and storm water management. Her technical expertise includes technical writing, presentations, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, construction drawings and specifications and general civil engineering. She is also a NC Certified Plant Professional. Betty is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers where she has served as an officer and has been the newsletter editor for many years. Betty and her family reside in Pfafftown, NC.

Kathy Landphair, GIS Specialist, has a Master’s degree in Engineering Management and a broad background in coordinating projects and programs to successful and high quality completion. She has over 16 years of management/engineering experience where she worked with individuals from varied disciplines and levels of expertise to develop and document engineering designs. Since joining JEWELL Engineering, she has worked on projects developing stormwater utilities and performing hydrologic analyses. Kathy and her family reside in Kernersville, NC.

 


Kathy Landphair

Nick Cook, EI, is a recent graduate from George Mason University with a Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering. His undergraduate degree is in Physics from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He has experience as a structural BMP inspector for the County of Fairfax, Va., and while there used GIS mapping skills and assisted the County in developing an inventory of undocumented features for compliance with NPDES Phase II permitting. Nick currently uses his training and experience in preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP’s) for local governments.

Diane Byers, Administrative Assistant, has been with JEWELL Engineering Consultants for more than 8 years. She provides administrative and financial management support for the firm. Diane and her family live in Kernersville, NC.
